For each chapter, we support grassroots projects rooted in the local community.In Rajasthan, our focus is on three areas: children's education, cultural preservationand protection of the local ecosystem.
Turning musical heritage into a future.Through the Mehrangarh Museum Trust(MMT), children are given a formal educationin Rajasthan's traditional music, training tobecome accomplished musicians. The pro-gramme preserves a living musical heritagewhile giving young people the skills to build re-spected professions and sustainable livelihoods.
Keeping Rajasthan's musical heritage alive.The Musical Instrument Library supported bythe MMT protects rare traditional instrumentsat risk of disappearing. By preserving theseinstruments and keeping them in the hands ofmusicians, the project ensures that thesounds, skills and traditions surrounding themcan continue for generations.
Protecting Rajasthan's camels and thecommunities that depend on them.Camels have shaped Rajasthan's landscapeand culture for centuries, yet their numbersare in serious decline. This project supportstheir protection, recognising the camel's im-portant role in the region's biodiversity and inthe livelihoods and traditions of pastoral com-munities such as the Rabari.
Symposium is only temporary. Its legacy should last much longer.
